Brandon, FL began as a rural community based on farming and agriculture. Brandon has gone through a lot of changes throughout its history to make it what it is today. I grew up in Brandon, and I have seen so many of these changes as the population grew and the surrounding communities developed.

The widening of State Road 60, the building of Brandon Town Center mall, the expansion of AMC Regency movie theater, the growth of South Brandon which used to end near Bloomingdale are just a few of these. Now there is development all the way to Fishhawk Ranch! I never would have guessed that years ago. There have been so many schools added to accommodate the growing population. The area now includes 4 high schools: Brandon, Armwood, Bloomingdale, and Strawberry Crest.
